Our Plans for 2015

Happy New Year from the Farinas Family.  We are a very busy, active family with two full time working parents and two high school students. We wanted to take a chance to update you on one of our new found passions and ask for your help.  Two years ago, our entire family became very active in the youth group of our Nazarene church.  The Nazarene church was founded on the principles of compassion and missions.  Last year, Marc and the girls were blessed to be able to participate in a mission’s trip to Loraine County, Ohio. There they repaired homes of low income seniors in an area devastated by the economic impact of the recession that has one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation.

Through missions, we have grown closer as a family, to God and experienced joy in helping others. In many cases, the girls have learned through the use of power tools, hammers and hard work the awesome things that they can accomplish.  At the same time appreciating our solid family life and blessed middle class life style. Marc has mentored and bonded with many of the teenagers of our church. 

This July, we would like to send our whole family on an international mission’s trip to a camp for people with Aids/HIV in Nassau, Bahamas. Shunned for their illness, the residents have been placed in an area on the Island separate from the hustle and bustle of Nassau’s tourism and commerce. If we are blessed to raise enough money to go, we will spend our time demolishing cabins, rebuilding new ones from scratch, repairing sidewalks, building handicap accessible structures and other repairs such as replacing roofs, siding, screen doors, and stairs.

We will be using saved vacation money to pay for half our trip. We are asking 100 people that we know for $30, which would cover half of the cost of the trip and pay for building materials and food while we are there. If you are interested in helping us out please follow this link:
